Start with the final screenshot
Crop and annotate screenshots before compression. Recompressing repeatedly can make quality decisions harder to evaluate.
Keep one original file when the image contains small UI text or transparent areas that need manual review.
Check readability before publishing
After compression, inspect small labels, icons, transparency, and gradients at the size where the image will appear.
For documentation screenshots, readability is more important than the smallest possible file size.
Use the right asset tool
Use PNG compression for raster screenshots and SVG compression for vector icons or markup.
If a screenshot contains text you need to reuse, extract the text before compressing the final asset.
